Funding for $5M Grunau Memorial Plaza Near Deer District Advances

The plaza will be named the Gary P. Grunau Memorial Plaza, honoring the late developer known for his work on Milwaukee’s river walk and other major projects. The TID, originally established to fund the Fiserv Forum area, will be amended to allocate $8 million for the plaza and improvements to West Vliet Street. Final approval from the city’s Joint Review Board is expected on February 20. Construction is set to begin in spring 2025 and conclude by the end of the year.
