Office, Residential Planned at Johnson Controls’ Former Downtown Campus

Bear Real Estate Group, based in Kenosha, plans to revitalize Johnson Controls' former downtown Milwaukee campus, transforming it into a mixed-use development named "The Patent Block." The 430,000-square-foot, seven-building campus at 507 E. Michigan St. was acquired in 2021 for $24 million, and now, in partnership with Founders 3 and Rinka, Bear aims to retain about 250,000 square feet for office space while converting other areas into apartments.
