Proposed by Fort Lauderdale developer Affiliated Development, the project may include an eight-level complex with 337 apartments, a parking garage, pool, ground-level shops, and waterfront restaurants. The developer has requested fiscal incentives, including a $2 million grant. The National Development Council will analyze the project's viability. The City Council is supportive, noting the potential enhancement of Downtown Melbourne. The vacant lot, previously a Suntrust Bank site, has been unused for 17 years.
